TIMELESS SAMOS

TIMELESS SAMOS

The island of Samos boasts a history that roots back to more than 25 centuries. In antiquity, Samos was the home of the mathematician Pythagoras, the philosopher Epicurus, the fabulist Aesop, and the astronomer Aristarchus. Hera, the mythological queen of Mount Olympus and wife of Zeus, was born on Samos, and as such, grandiose temples were erected in the spectacular Heraion village in her honour.

The island’s history lives on through impressive archaeological sites, museums, historical monuments and, most importantly, its day-to-day traditions. The most impressive site, the Heraion, is a Unesco World Heritage Site and a popular attraction for visitors from all over the world.
